Visual Brand Identity
Logo Design
Intro
This case study documents a personal branding project for Isawood Studio, LLC; my own furniture and ambient lighting venture inspired by Japanese and Scandinavian design principles.

Challenge
As the inaugural project within that creative arch, the task appeared simple: create a complete brand identity and logo in one day. In practice, it became a lesson in pacing, self-expectation, and understanding what meaningful design work actually requires.

Approach
Design Strategy
Draw from Japanese interior design, tatami patterns, and precision joinery
Blend these ideas with Scandinavian simplicity and warmth
Build an identity that visually communicates calm, light, and material-driven craft
Infuse personal meaning: “Isa” from my name, “Wood” from my medium, and a mark shaped from letterforms that mimic light and cutout forms

Process Reflection
Explored several logo variations before landing on a focused, intentional direction
Worked consciously to avoid slipping into perfectionist loops
Prioritized clarity and momentum over endless fine-tuning
Outcome
The resulting brand identity expresses the tranquil, nature-guided aesthetic I envisioned for Isawood Studio. It also forms the creative foundation for the physical products and visual designs I plan to release over time. This project marks the first step in a long, evolving personal journey for Isawood Studio. It reinforced that starting takes courage, continuing takes commitment, and creating work that feels true to my vision will always be worth the effort.
